- Be thankful.
- Each day, take the time to write a couple words or memories that summarize the little things in life you are thankful for in a little notebook. Try to do this every night right before you go to sleep maybe with some twinkling lights or soft music in the background.
- Try paper.
- During quarantine, I’m pretty sure all of us have been taking advantage of Zoom calls, Facetime, and text messages to talk with one another. But, why don’t we take a pause from this tech-saturate lifestyle and try something new? Write letters and mail them to one another! A little old-fashion tradition can be a refreshing activity to take part in while quarantine drags on time.
- Self-care.
- Pamper yourself. Use the facemask you’ve been saving for a beach weekend now. Take a nice bubble bath from time to time. Take care of your skin using lotions, oils, or creams. Indulge in a little nail salon moment. You deserve this.
- Start fresh,
- Maybe you can grow a plant in your backyard, or if you don’t have a backyard, a little clay pot near the window is good enough too. Start a new hobby you have been interested in pursuing but just haven’t had the time or energy too.
- Walk and talk.
- Staying inside for too long can be really frustrating and almost overwhelming. Any time throughout the day, go on a walk or a hike with your family. Enjoy the warmth of the sun, the sounds of nature (instead of industrial noises like car honks and sirens), the brisk air hugging around you. It’s a relaxing experience.
- Be a Chef.
- Pursue something in the kitchen. Whether that be baking or cooking meals, experiment with the ingredients at hand. Try perfecting one dish or dessert that you have been wanting to craft. When you’re done, name it, whatever you want.
- Make Dalgona Coffee.
- If you haven’t heard the hype around Dalgona coffee, it’s basically a Korean-style whipped instant coffee which utilizes fast arm strokes to make the puffy, creamy consistency. For coffee lovers out there, especially, if you are bored with your 9am espressos or americanos, try this instead.
- Flip pages.
- In other words, read. Don’t get too caught up in Netflix and social media. Try to make friends with literature or even poetry. You’ll be surprised how much intellect you can gain from a couple lines of text versus an hour-long video of teenage drama.
- ZZZ
- Take a nap. Open the windows while you’re at it so you can hear the birds chirping in the background. It’s quite soothing, In fact, I have just waken up from a short nap under such serenity and let me tell you, it was nice.
- Clean up.
- Reorganize your room, your life, yourself.
